Not sure how to thread a sewing machine, which settings to use, or what all those different pieces are for? A sewing machine can look quite intimidating at first but, in this hands-on 3-hour sewing machine class, you'll learn the fundamentals of using a sewing machine and get plenty of practice.
We'll start with the basics, from threading a sewing machine and winding a bobbin to understanding stitch length, stitch width and thread tension. You'll explore different stitches and presser feet, and get hands-on with the sewing machines in the studio through a series of guided sewing exercises.
We'll also finish with a small DIY project to put your new skills into practice. The project changes regularly, so you'll always have something fun to make.
By the end of the class, you'll understand how a sewing machine works, feel comfortable with its different settings and features, and have the confidence to continue sewing at home.

This class is perfect for complete beginners who are considering buying a sewing machine, or for anyone who has a sewing machine at home but still feels a little unsure about how to use all its settings and features.

For beginners who are ready to learn the foundations of sewing and commit to developing their skills. Ideal if you're considering buying your first sewing machine or already own one. No prior experience required; Level 0 is not a prerequisite.
Level 2 · Workshops
More intricate, project-focused workshops for sewists who already know how to operate a sewing machine. You must be able to thread a sewing machine independently and troubleshoot basic issues. Not there yet? Then you'll need to complete a Level 1 class first.
